The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. WFP provides solutions in the fight to end acute hunger and malnutrition. As part of our operational needs and with the aim of optimizing procurement management within the framework of cost-sharing agreements, we would like to recruit a Procurement Specialist (UNV-international) to support the activities of WFP and UNFPA.Task Description

Under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Country Director and the WFP Deputy Country Director, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: Contribute to the development of procurement plans and processes, ensuring they are in line with broader procurement policies and standards for both agencies. Support strategic supplier selection, including identification of potential suppliers, market research and analysis.

Support or manage procurement programs and operational activities (e.g., issuing tenders, evaluating bids and negotiating/awarding contracts), following standard processes to contribute to the successful procurement of food and non-food commodities or services. Contribute to the conduct of supplier performance assessments to evaluate their capacity and reliability. Monitor and analyze data to provide recommendations for process improvement. · Gather data and contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on procurement activities, to contribute to a holistic view for both agencies that enables informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders, leading to performance optimization.

Gather information and draft appropriate responses to recommendations to support the audit of procurement activities and ensure compliance with compliance regulations. · Work closely with internal counterparts and external partners, including suppliers, superintendents, businesses, etc., to align procurement activities with broader programs and ensure a consistent approach to meeting food aid needs. · Promote ethical and transparent procurement practices, ensuring both agencies’ commitment to integrity and accountability.

· Support staff training for both agencies to take a strategic and proactive approach to the procurement of food and non-food products and services, for example, by designing and reviewing training materials. · Guide and supervise more experienced staff, acting as a point of reference and supporting them with more complex analyses and queries. · Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure that both agencies are able to respond quickly and deploy food and necessary goods and services to affected areas at the onset of the crisis. · Other, as needed.Skills and values
